Make-up work

Students, if you’ve been absent recently you may have missed the vocabulary production quiz, the chapter test for chapter 1A or the oral presentation project.  All of this needs to be made up ASAP.  It’s been a very busy first month of school and we’ve had a large number of students entering and withdrawing from the class.  On Monday/Tuesday of next week, I will give you a print out of all of your grades as well as missing assignments.  I’ll also continue calling the parents of students with one or more missing assignments.

Make-up work 8-31 and 9-1

If you were absent either of these days you will need to make up a vocabulary test ASAP.  It will only take a few minutes and I will be available before and after school on Thurs. and Fri.

8-25 and 8-26 make up work

If you were absent on the 25th or the 26th, you will need to make up a vocab quiz and pick up two articles from me that you will need for a writing assignment.

New post assignment!

Please click on the page that says “¿Qué te gusta hacer?” and answer all three questions with complete sentences. : )  TR classes may begin posting Friday evening and MW classes should start posting Monday evening.

Make-up work 8-19 and 8-20

If you were absent on the 19th or 20th there is a short quiz that you need to make up.  Please stop by my room either before 7:30 or after 2:15.  Friday is the last deadline for the MW classes and Monday is the deadline for the TR classes.

There is also a homework assignment handout that you need.  Come by my classroom today or tomorrow and pick it up.  I will post it the the blogsite this weekend in case you loose it.

Make-up work

If you missed the Samantha Brown video clip, you will need to write a couple of paragraphs describing the country of Uruguay.  You need to mention:  mate, candombe, gauchos and the capitol city.  You may use as resources the internet, the library or classmates that were present that day.  Turn it in to me no later than Monday the 24th to receive credit for that grade.

1st week down!

OK, damas y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen) we just finished our first week and WOW!  If you’re adding the class late, get the notes from one of your classmates–we’ve covered greeting and intros, numbers 0-30, cognates and some cultural stuff.  If you have any questions please don’t be shy in letting me know.  So many of you have become enthusiastic about learning Spanish and that is going to REALLY help you get the most out this class.

In keeping with the syllabus, this next week we’ll cover number 31-100 (maybe more), classroom commands, calendar/seasons/weather and possibly a little more.  If we can get a day or so ahead of the syllabus you’ll have more review time for the 9 weeks exam.  I’m still thinking about what to do for a class if EVERYONE in the class averages a B or better.  We will NOT have a party or eat in the classroom and it will have to be something that does not interfere with the learning process.  If anyone has any creative ideas, just let me know.

If you have any questions about this post, just submit you question as a comment and I’ll answer it ASAP.  I’m also going to start calling parents this week and I won’t stop until I’ve talked to ALL of them.  Remember to monitor yourselves and make sure that when I talk to them I have only positive things to say!

I think I have a GREAT group of students this year and I hope everyone works hard enough to get the best grade possible!

¡Qué tenga buen fin de semana!  (Have a good weekend!)

¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome to another GREAT school year!  Now that the summer break is over it’s time to hit the ground running!  Every student needs to click on the page named “Why study Spanish?” and post a response.
